#WeblogPoMo2024 comes to an end

It’s the end of May and the end of the #WeblogPoMo2024 challenge!

I did well at the start of the month, when I was off work for a week, but once life when back to the usual routine I slipped into more like every other day – but that’s fine! I still definitely posted more than my average.

I downloaded a WP stats plugin (Just Writing Statistics) so I can get an idea of what I achieved!

24 Posts with this one!
16,584 Words in total.
691 Average words per post.

I wrote about along with my usual book reviews and gardening blogs I also wrote about travelling, Doctor Who, X-Men and thoughts on turning 36!

Everything I wrote:

I didn’t do any “sit down and write” prompts because I already had so much in my mental back log to get out! The challenge was good timing to prod me to start sharing my thoughts on the new Doctor Who episodes along with my rewatch. I have such a poor memory I like having somewhere to look back and remember what happened and what I thought at the time!

I don’t think I can keep up posting so frequently long term, my partner keeps complaining I’m always blogging now as I sit tapping on my phone or Ioad as we relax in the evening! And I also would like to get back to my embroidery (pattern for my cat portraits are almost composed!) which has fallen by the wayside as I’ve focused on the blog challenge and gardening at the weekends.

I also got inspired by all the lovely blogs I found through the hashtag, of more technically experienced people than me, and changed my blog’s theme and found a plugin (WP U Like) to stick an “open heart” to the bottom of my posts so people can click and just let me know they liked it.

I’m not totally happy with it’s placement or look but I’ve not had time to fiddle with the CSS for it yet!

Whats next?

I have a few things brewing I’d like to get to the blog. I’m still “in my feelings” about the Meta emails I got this morning regarding the changing in privacy policy to scrape our content for their AI. I’m also having similar churning thoughts about Disney after watching the viral “Why The Star Wars Hotel Failed” video, and a Sixteenth Minute podcast episode on The Dress. I know it’s all related (corporate greed has ruined everything that used to be joyful) but I’ve not pulled loose the mental threads yet.

Maybe this is a preview for a future blog post, or maybe tomorrow I’ll get distracted by gardening and it’ll never get out of the back of my brain! I did spent Β£24 on bedding plants at lunch time today… I’ve got a lot of planting and potting to do!

I also have been working on some kind of movement log as a fitness motivation tool but still playing around with that in Google Sheets/Forms. I’m thinking something simple and similar to my Cycle Tracker which I continue to find incredibly helpful!
