      • 1 Star/Did Not Finish1 Star reads and books I didn’t finish. I use this for books I couldn’t finish. If I finished a book, it meant it was passable at least so deserves an extra star! It is very rare that I need to do this, I’m good at knowing my own taste. Usually if  a book got this rating I’d made a miscalculation when I picked it up! I have a whole post about how I rate books and my reading preferences.
      • 2 Stars2 out of 5 star  book reviews. I finished the book but it felt like a struggle, and I probably ended up skim reading a lot of it just to get though the thing. I have a whole post about how I rate books and my reading preferences.
      • 3 Stars3 out of 5 star book reviews. These are middle-of-the-road books. Nothing that got me excited, but they were fine and I probably had a good time reading most of it. I have a whole post about how I rate books and my reading preferences.
      • 4 Stars4 out of 5 star book reviews. I had a good time reading it, I felt like I got something out of the experience and I’d recommend it to other people. I have a whole post about how I rate books and my reading preferences.
      • 5 Stars5 out of 5 star book reviews. I got super excited about it! I’ll buy a hard copy for my library, and I’ll likely read it again. Sometimes for these books, I’ll write up a longer review with analysis. I have a whole post about how I rate books and my reading preferences.

Nine Perfect Strangers by Liana Moriarty 2/5 Stars Too many characters, most of which were stereotypes lacking any dimension, a cartoonish Russian villain and worst of all, it was boring. I’ve read better from this author.

⭐⭐ 2/5 Stars - Disappointing. Flat characters, boring and never went anywhere interesting.

A court of thorns and roses by sarah j maas. 2/5 stars Have I read worse? Yes. But, is this good? No, it’s poorly written by all measures. Is it deserving of the hype? Absolutely not. Do I wish I hadn’t read it? Yes.

Moon Over Soho by Ben Arronovitch 2/5 stars I was so close to DNF’ing! Hated the main plot, Peter started to give me the ick... BUT... the underground wizards subplot, Nightingale and world building kept me going. I hope this is just a blip in the series and Peter improves!

I was so close to DNFing this. I hated everything about the main plot, Peter gave me ick, and most of it was infuriating reading... BUT the subplot, the world building and the direction I think the series is going held my interest! - ⭐⭐ 2/5 Stars

a ladys guide to scandal by sophie irwin 2/5 stars I struggled to find the romance! I didn’t like Erica, she frustrated me from the first to the last! Plus I didn’t realise it was a love triangle (though Lord Somerset is barely in it anyway)!

Frustrating main character and a lack of engaging romance. ⭐⭐ 2/5 Stars

one perfect couple by ruth ware 2/5 stars Thriller is a generous description for such a predictable plot, and there is definitely no mystery. Everything I thought would happen happened. The twist is no twists!

"Thriller" if you're very generous but there is no mystery in this entirely predictable plot. ⭐⭐ 2/5 Stars

Exceptionally thin on the linguistic elements, and full of basic filler on cults - all of which I already knew! ⭐⭐ 2/5 Stars
