I am now a person who has played Magic The Gathering 3 times.
The things I do for love.
We’re three years into our relationship and I have finally agreed to let my partner teach me how to play Magic The Gathering.

I’ve never been a person who enjoys boardgames or card games, or I didn’t think I was. Over time we’ve slowly built up my tolerance and confidence for games, and now I see them as a nice way for us to bond and spend time together.
So after three years it was time to submit to learning MTG.
It is a little overwhelming. It’s a much more complicated game than I usually like, and I hate having to calculate attack and damage values… But maybe I will get used to it eventually!
I’m not opposed to playing a few more games, and maybe keeping it in our date night rotation for a while.
So far I’ve won 3/3 and I don’t know how long I can keep up my definite beginners luck!

This must be True Love.

Good on you for giving Magic The Gathering a go to make your partner happy. I’d never heard of the game so I looked it up, and was not at all enlightened. I think I’d need someone to teach it to me as well. 🙂

It has a reputation for being *extremely nerdy* because it gets very complex with all the possible card combinations! I understand like 10% of it now haha
It always makes me laugh when my partner watches tournaments because they put these sound effects on and the commentators get so animated about two men putting some cards on a table!
South Park did an episode about cock fighting with roosters playing it lol (cock magic).
