Vacation Picard Complete

Vacation Picard Complete

Picard is finished!

To end a productive week off I’ve finished my Vacation Picard embroidery piece!

This project took longer than I’d hope, mainly due to getting distracted by Hogwarts Legacy for the past month! With that out the way I got back to spending my evening TV time stitching.

I think he’s looking a little bit redder than I’d like but he is sunbathing on holiday so we’ll just say he didn’t apply enough sun cream!

Otherwise I’m pretty happy with him!

My satin stitch continues to improve, I am pleased with how his blouse came out.

If I could have the time back I’d tackle his .. er.. trunks.. a bit differently, and as I said before wish I’d angled the stitches on his book to improve the dimensions. But, I continue to live and learn!

Using the printable water soluble transfer over the top of the pained area worked out. It felt like a gamble but thankfully I had aligned things correctly and used enough fabric medium that the acrylic paint stood up to being washed!

I am thrilled with his face. I think I got a good likeness, a couple of people who’ve been around the house and seen the WIP have recognised him!

Here is the full glory of my reference. You are welcome.

I had lots of fun with this. It is my favourite when I make my own composition to memorialise a bit of TV that brought me joy!

I now have a little series of these pieces. Here he is hanging with Dwight and Alan!

For my next project I think I will finally take the Domestika β€˜Needle Painting for Beginners’ course I bought about 2 years ago now! I want to make some portraits of the cats.

  1. Wow! This looks fantastic! I can’t do anything artistic like this so I’m always in awe of people who can. It’s like you have some sort of magical power I can only look upon with amazement. It came out wonderfully. Go you, Alice!

      Thank you Michael!

And I’m sure you could make something “artistic”! Anyone can make art! It just takes practice, and these days I usually “cheat” and trace a reference photo to make a pattern, that goes a long way to making something like this look good!

      • I appreciate the vote of confidence, Alice! And I’m sure you’re right…even if I’d say still my main area of expertise is in appreciating others’ works of art ;D. But I do enjoy doodling from time to time so there is that. And “cheat” or not, what you made here in incredible!
