It’s been a bit of a challenging end to the week. I’ve come down with a bug so I’ve been fed up on sick days. And we had an issue with the tiles we ordered for the bathroom so work won’t be able to start on that next week, and we now have to wait for another slot with our fitter.
Extra frustrating now all the stuff has arrived and it all looks so good! We got excited and which made it even more disappointing when we realised all he white tiles were missing. Upon phoning the tile company it seems like the factory in Italy hasn’t even made them yet!
And our electrician had to cancel at the end of the week because he got a stomach bug, so we are hoping he can come over the weekend to get the new extractor fan fitted!
It feels like everything is falling apart, so time to take stock of recent good times!
1. At least we get to make Grand Designs jokes! It’s very GD for something integral being imported from Europe to not arrive! Maybe we’ll have a new bathroom by Christmas…

2. I got assigned to an exciting project at work! It’s the biggest I’ve been involved in and feels great to be trusted, and get to work more closely with my colleagues on it.
3. I’ve really enjoyed getting into more book blogging and thinking up lists for Top Ten Tuesday and hunting down book tags. It’s fun to explore everyone else’s posts, and I think it’s a good way to remember books past and specifically what has resonated with me.
4. We’ve been rewatching the Oceans Eleven through to Oceans Thirteen movies and I’m surprised by how fun they still are. After we watch Oceans 8 I might post about it.
5. I am out of my reading slump! I’ve read some really fun books – especially Murderbot which I really need to get around to reviewing.

6. We’ve spent weeks working on a 2,000 piece map of the world jigsaw and finally finished it! It was a beast and taught us a lot about what we don’t know about geography!
7. I finally got back to some Cat Portrait! Progress is still slow but it’s there.
8. I got an electrician to call me back (more difficult than you’d think!) and we finally got the old crappy downlights changed in the bathroom and living room. It looks so much better – and less of a fire risk than the halogen ones covered in insulation! Now the old yellowed plastic bezels are gone the eye is drawn so much less to our artex swirl living room ceiling.
9. I’ve been enjoying binging Corner Gas. I like its easy relaxed vibes. No romance, no kids, just small town absurdity!

10. I had a lovely day with a uni friend last weekend. It’s always good to catch up. Over a pint we tried to remember what we had to read for our English undergraduate course (blog post idea!), though I think most of it is lost in the mists of time – 18 years was a lifetime ago!
