⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4/5 Sharpe observations on everyday interactions, tightly woven plot but the central mystery is a little anti-climatic.

This is my third Liane Moriarty (after Big Little Lies and Apples Never Fall), and I think my favourite. I listened to this on audiobook, and the narrator did a great job (though a little unsure about the little girl lisp for Celia’s daughter Ester..).
Once again it is tightly plotted with sharp, raw observations of the complexities of every day interactions. The story jumps between the POV of several key characters whose lives have intersections, some more tightly woven than others.
I found the central – impossible – dilemmas of Celia (her titular husband’s secret) and Tess (her husband’s earth shattering confession) to be particularly painful. I really felt for Tess the most.
My only negatives were that the ending was rather unsatisfying, and having read two back to back I’m starting to find her characters across novels are rather samey. I suppose that is life – and these are very relatable every day people (mostly mothers) – but for me binge reading/listening I need a break from Liane Moriarty for a while and explore something else on BorrowBox!
